Residents are trained by Green Futures Smashblock stand evaluators to sort their domestic waste correctly. Stands are provided with three bins to separate their waste into: recyclable, organic and general waste.
Waste is collected by local waste pickers and further sorted by Green Futures team members at nearby mini waste sorting facilities. Recyclable materials are separated for recovery, organics composted through a bokashi process, while non-recyclables are taken to the landfill.
Operational data is tracked to support accountability and service improvement. Digital monitoring tools enable oversight at every level, from community sorting facilities to individual households.
